The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for…Central Watauga County in northwestern North Carolina…

* Until 830 PM EDT Friday.

* At 227 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producingheavy rain across the warned area. Between 1.5 and 2.5 inches ofrain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 2 to 4 inches in 1hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible inthe warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to beginshortly.

HAZARD…Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstormsproducing flash flooding.
