The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has issued a

  • Flash Flood Warning for…Alleghany NC County in northwestern North Carolina…Ashe County in northwestern North Carolina…Watauga County in northwestern North Carolina…Wilkes County in northwestern North Carolina…

  • Until 300 PM EDT Friday.

  • At 701 AM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicatedthunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between5 and 10 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amountsof 3 to 5 inches are possible in the warned area. Additionalamounts as high as 6 to 9 inches could be possible across Wataugaand Ashe Counties. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to beginshortly.

HAZARD…Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstormsproducing flash flooding.
