…FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 530 PM EDT THIS AFTERNOON…
* WHAT…Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
* WHERE…A portion of northwest North Carolina, including thefollowing counties, Alleghany NC, Ashe, Watauga and Wilkes.
* WHEN…Until 530 PM EDT.
* IMPACTS…Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.Overflowing poor drainage areas.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…– At 231 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gaugesindicated heavy rain due to showeres and thunderstorms.Excessive rainfall in some areas will result in flooding oflow-lying, flood prone, and poor drainage areas. Between 1and 2.5 inches of rain have fallen in some parts of the FloodAdvisory area and additional heavy rainfall is ongoing andexpected to continue for at least another hour or two.– Some areas that have received the heaviest rainfall thisafternoon include the northern half of Ashe County includingLansing, Shatley Springs, and Clifton. Another area ofgreater concern is along the Watauga/Avery county line southof Seven Devils and Foscoe as well as Blowing Rock.
This includes the following streams and drainages…Beaver Creek, Beaverdam Creek, Big Horse Creek, Basin Creek,Beech Creek and Bee Tree Branch.Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are expectedover the area.– Some locations that will experience flooding include…
