The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has issued a
Flood Advisory for…Ashe County in northwestern North Carolina…Watauga County in northwestern North Carolina…
Until 745 AM EDT.
At 435 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due tothunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to beginshortly in the advisory area. Up to 2 inches of rain have fallen.
Some locations that will experience flooding include…Boone… Jefferson…West Jefferson… Blowing Rock…Beech Mountain… Lansing…Todd…
This includes the following streams and drainages…Big Laurel Creek, Brushy Fork, Big Horse Creek, Beaverdam Creek,Call Creek, Cove Creek, Beech Creek and Beaver Creek.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flooddeaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize thedangers of flooding.
