2022-08-14T22:56:00-04:002022-08-15T02:00:00-04:00NWS Blacksburg (Southwest Virginia)Flood Advisory issued August 14 at 10:56PM EDT by NWS Blacksburg…FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 2 AM EDT MONDAY…* WHAT…Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.* WHERE…A portion of northwest North Carolina, including thefollowing counties, Alleghany NC, Ashe, Watauga and Wilkes.* WHEN…Until 200 AM EDT.* IMPACTS…Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…– At 1056 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due tothunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to beginshortly in the advisory area. Between 1.5 and 2.5 inches ofrain have fallen.– This includes the following streams and drainages…Church Branch, Basin Creek, Cane Creek, Beaver Creek, CallCreek, Big Laurel Creek, Big Sandy Creek, Cove Creek, BigPine Creek, Brush Creek, Big Horse Creek and Clear Branch.Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are expectedover the area.
