2022-07-10T13:06:00-04:002022-07-10T15:00:00-04:00NWS Blacksburg (Southwest Virginia)Flood Advisory issued July 10 at 1:06PM EDT by NWS Blacksburg…FLOOD ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 3 PM EDT THIS AFTERNOON…* WHAT…Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.* WHERE…In northwest North Carolina, Alleghany NC and Ashe.* WHEN…Until 300 PM EDT.* IMPACTS…Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…– At 104 PM EDT, An area of light to moderate rain continued tospread southeast into Alleghany County NC from southwestVirginia. Much of Alleghany County experienced 2 to 4 inchesof rainfall on Saturday. Additional rainfall of 1 to 1.5inches is possible over the next couple of hours. Thisadditional rainfall combined with saturated ground fromprevious rainfall could result in minor flooding within theadvisory area. Ponding of water can also be expected,especially in low-lying areas on roadways.– This includes the following streams and drainages…Brush Creek, Elk Creek, Grassy Creek, Elkin Creek, East ProngRoaring River, Gully Creek, Crab Fork, Glade Creek, BasinCreek, Big Pine Creek, Cove Creek and Little River.Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 1.5 inches are expectedover the area.
