…FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 AM EST WEDNESDAY…
WHAT…Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
WHERE…Portions of north central and northwest North Carolina,including the following counties, in north central North Carolina,Surry. In northwest North Carolina, Alleghany NC, Ashe, Watauga,Wilkes and Yadkin.
WHEN…Until 700 AM EST Wednesday.
IMPACTS…Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lyingand flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
At 1209 PM EST, Doppler radar and automated rain gaugesindicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Flooding isongoing or expected to begin shortly in the warned area.Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen.
Additional rainfall amounts of 1.5 to 2 inches with localizedhigher amounts are possible in the warned area.
Some locations that will experience flooding include…North Wilkesboro, Elkin, Wilkesboro, Jonesville, Ronda, McGrady and Wilbar.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flooddeaths occur in vehicles.
In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which arepotentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross floodedroads. Find an alternate route.
