The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has issued a
* Flood Warning for…Watauga County in northwestern North Carolina…
* Until 845 AM EDT.
* At 254 AM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicatedheavy rain has exited the warned area, leaving only light rainshowers. However, flooding continues in local creeks and riversdue to between 3 and 6 inches of rain that fell earlier in thenight. Localized flooding is expected to persist through late thismorning before coming to an end.
* Some locations that will experience flooding include…Boone, Blowing Rock, Beech Mountain, Sugar Grove, Foscoe, Todd andDeep Gap.
This includes the following streams and drainages…Brushy Fork, Elk Creek, George Gap Branch, Beech Creek, BeaverdamCreek, Flat Branch, Crab Orchard Creek, Cove Creek, Fall Creek,Dugger Creek, Dutch Creek and the Watauga River.
