…FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 845 PM EDT FRIDAY…
WHAT…Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
WHERE…A portion of northwest North Carolina, including thefollowing counties, Alleghany NC, Ashe, Watauga and Wilkes.
WHEN…Until 845 PM EDT Friday.
IMPACTS…Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lyingand flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Numerous roadsremain closed due to flooding. Local media have reported waterrescues.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
At 841 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated continuous bands ofheavy rain passing across northwest North Carolina. Floodingis ongoing and will continue to worsen in the warned area insome areas as the night progresses. Between 5 and 9 inches ofrain have fallen since early this morning, with rainfallexpected to intensify through dawn.
Additional rainfall amounts of 4 to 6 inches are possible inthe warned area through dawn.
Some locations that will experience flooding include…Boone, North Wilkesboro, Wilkesboro, Sparta, Jefferson, WestJefferson and Blowing Rock.

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Beespecially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize thedangers of flooding.
