…FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 445 PM EDT THIS AFTERNOON…

  • WHAT…Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

  • WHERE…A portion of northwest North Carolina, including thefollowing counties, Alleghany NC, Ashe, Watauga and Wilkes.

  • WHEN…Until 445 PM EDT Thursday.

  • IMPACTS…Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lyingand flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Numerous roadsremain closed due to flooding.

  • ADDITIONAL DETAILS…

  • At 745 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due tothunderstorms. Flooding is ongoing or expected to beginshortly in the warned area. Between 2 and 4 inches of rainhave fallen.

  • Additional rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches are possible inthe warned area.

  • Some locations that will experience flooding include…Boone, North Wilkesboro, Wilkesboro, Sparta, Jefferson, WestJefferson and Blowing Rock.
