…FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH LATE TONIGHT…
WHAT…Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to bepossible.
WHERE…Portions of North Carolina and southwest Virginia,including the following areas, in North Carolina, Alleghany NC,Ashe, Surry, Watauga and Wilkes. In southwest Virginia, Carroll,Floyd, Grayson and Patrick.
WHEN…Through late tonight.
IMPACTS…Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occurin poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may beflooded. Storm drains and ditches may become clogged with debris.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
2 to 4 inches of rain with locally higher amounts, of up to 6inches, are expected, especially along and just east of thesouthern Blue Ridge.
