WHAT…Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.
WHERE…Portions of North Carolina, including the following areas,Alleghany NC, Ashe, Rockingham, Stokes, Surry, Watauga, Wilkes andYadkin, Virginia, including the following areas, Alleghany VA,Amherst, Bath, Bedford, Bland, Botetourt, Campbell, Carroll,Craig, Floyd, Franklin, Giles, Grayson, Henry, Montgomery,Patrick, Pittsylvania, Pulaski, Roanoke, Rockbridge, Smyth,Tazewell and Wythe, and southeast West Virginia, including thefollowing areas, Eastern Greenbrier, Mercer, Monroe, Summers andWestern Greenbrier.

IMPACTS…Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occurin poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may beflooded. Extensive street flooding and flooding of creeks andrivers are possible.

Showers and thunderstorms develop early this afternoon andinto tonight. A nearby frontal boundary will provide focusfor repeated storms to develop. This along with increasingmoisture and previous heavy rainfall will set the stage foradditional flash flooding across the area.
