A 38-year-old man faces attempted murder and child abuse charges after a juvenile was shot early Sunday morning at a residence in Johnson County TN, authorities said.
Officers responded to a shooting report on Waters Road in the Laurel community in the early morning hours of Nov. 2, according to law enforcement. They found a juvenile with a gunshot wound at the scene.
The victim received immediate medical attention and was transported to a hospital for treatment. The victim's condition was not immediately available.
Joshua Houston Upright, a resident of the home, was arrested following an investigation. He has been charged with aggravated child abuse and neglect, aggravated assault involving domestic violence, and attempted first-degree murder.
Upright is being held at the Johnson County Jail on $1 million bond.
The investigation remains ongoing. Authorities have not released additional details about the circumstances of the shooting or the relationship between Upright and the victim.
