NCDOT crews across the High Country are getting ready for a third round of winter weather tonight. While significant accumulation isn't anticipated, strong winds may pose a challenge to our response.
Crews must pause work if sustained wind speeds reach 35 mph. Winds that strong could cause white-out conditions, topple trees or cause high-profile snow removal equipment to overturn.
If you see crews waiting out the storm, they will return to work as soon as conditions are safe.
