This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for northwest North Carolina,southwest Virginia, west central Virginia and southeast WestVirginia.

.DAY ONE…Today and tonight.

Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms are expected thisafternoon and evening as a cold front drifts slowly south into theregion. The main hazard with these thunderstorms will be pockets ofheavy rainfall and localized flooding. In addition, a few strong tosevere thunderstorms are possible with damaging wind gusts being themain hazard.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN…Tuesday through Sunday.

Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms are expected eachday through the week. Locally heavy and repeated rainfall in thesame areas will result in an increased threat for flooding and flashflooding through the week, especially across the mountains. A fewstorms could also become strong to severe with damaging wind gustsbeing the main hazard.

Spotter activation will be possible each day this week at times,mainly during the afternoons and evenings, due to the threat offlooding and/or flash flooding and isolated to scattered strong tosevere thunderstorms. Rainfall reports from spotters, CoCoRahsobservers, and the public are appreciated.
