This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for north central North Carolina,northwest North Carolina, central Virginia, south central Virginia,southwest Virginia, west central Virginia and southeast WestVirginia.
.DAY ONE…Today and tonight.
Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms are expected againtoday with the greatest coverage during the afternoon and evening.The main hazard with these thunderstorms will be pockets of heavyrainfall and localized flooding. In addition, a few strong to severethunderstorms are possible, mainly this afternoon/evening withdamaging wind gusts being the main hazard.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN…Wednesday through Monday.
Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms are expected eachday through the weekend. Locally heavy and repeated rainfall in thesame areas will result in an increased threat for flooding and flashflooding through the week, especially across the mountains. A fewstorms could also become strong to severe with damaging wind gustsbeing the main hazard.
The greatest threat for widespread flooding and potential flashflooding will be near and west of the I-77 corridor throughout theweek.
.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT…
Spotter activation will be possible each day this week at times,mainly during the afternoons and evenings, due to the threat offlooding and/or flash flooding and isolated to scattered strong tosevere thunderstorms. Rainfall reports from spotters, CoCoRahsobservers, and the public are appreciated.
