Until 415 PM EDT.
At 311 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over WilkesboroReservoir, or near Boomer, moving east at 10 mph.
HAZARD…60 mph wind gusts and half dollar size hail.
SOURCE…Radar indicated.
IMPACT…Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damageto roofs, siding, and trees.
Locations impacted include…North Wilkesboro…Wilkesboro…Jefferson…West Jefferson…Ronda…Lansing…and Traphill.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
Prepare immediately for large hail and damaging winds, as well asdeadly cloud to ground lightning. For your safety, move to aninterior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Stay awayfrom windows.
Locally heavy rain will quickly reduce visibility and result inponding of water on roadways, standing water in low lying areas, andminor flooding of creeks, streams, and areas of poor drainage.Drivers are urged to slow down and use extra caution to avoidhydroplaning.
