…INCREASED FIRE DANGER THROUGH EARLY EVENING…

Relative humidity values between 20 and 25 percent will combinewith wind gusts of 10 to 15 mph and dry fuels is expected thisafternoon. This will result in an increased fire danger.

People are urged to avoid outdoor burning. If you must burn, useextreme caution since fires can grow quickly and become dangerousin these conditions. Ensure that fire suppression equipment isreadily available. Properly extinguish and dispose of any smokingmaterials.

The North Carolina Forest Service has issued a statewide ban onall open burning until further notice, and all burning permitshave been cancelled. Residents with questions can contact theirNC Forest Service county ranger or their county fire marshal'soffice.
