A winter weather advisory is in effect for the higher elevationsnorth of Interstate 64 today for accumulating snow, sleet, andfreezing rain. Farther south, mixed precipitation is possible butlittle accumulation is expected. Higher elevations, such as theBlue Ridge Parkway north of Roanoke, and ridge tops, such asMountain Lake and Peters Mountain, may experience temperaturesnear, or just below freezing, allowing for some icing in thetrees. An inch or two of snow and sleet is also possible for theWilderness area in northern Amherst County. Roads may become slickanywhere wintry precipitation falls. If you are traveling, pleaseuse extra caution.
