At 723 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 6miles west of Newland, or 5 miles southwest of Elk Park, moving eastat 20 mph.
HAZARD…Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail.
SOURCE…Radar indicated.
IMPACT…Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow aroundunsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects ispossible.
Locations impacted include…Newland, Banner Elk, Elk Park, Beech Mountain In Avery County,Crossnore, Sugar Mountain, Seven Devils, Grandfather Mountain StatePark, B.R. Parkway-Linville Falls To Grandfather and Pineola.
