Boone, NC, July 8-13, 2024 – Many students spend their summer break soaking in rays at thebeach or lounging around the house. However, approximately 135 middle and high school-agestudents will be hard at work on a week-long community service project in the High Country thisJuly.

WHAT: World Changers in Boone, NC.WHO: 135 junior high and high school students from across AmericaWHEN: July 8-13, 2024WHERE: Watauga & Avery Counties

Students will be working with a variety of churches throughout Boone and Linvilleand staying at Perkinsville Baptist Church and Cornerstone Summit. This summer as a whole,thousands of student and adult volunteers are registered to participate in dozens of WorldChangers projects across the United States. World Changers is serving not only this week inBoone, but also in more than 20 cities in the US in June and July.

During the week, the students will be working on a variety of assignments that range frompainting houses, constructing or repairing decks, putting on siding, interior work like replacingflooring, and various other projects to serve Watauga and Avery Counties.

Students traveling with their churches and youth groups pay on average $300 for registration,as well as their travel expenses to take part in this week where they work on a variety of projectsthroughout communities here in western North Carolina. They will come from North Carolina,South Carolina, Georgia, Kentucky and Indiana.

The students and adults who participate in World Changers have a desire to serve and grow intheir ability to meet the needs of communities. World Changers participants learn what servingothers really means throughout the week. Working in this city is a way to demonstrate that teenscan get out of their comfort zone, work hard and help others.

World Changers in Boone is partnered with WAMY Community Action to find the homeowners inneed of repairs to their homes. They are also partnering with local churches to provide lunchesto the volunteers. For more information, contact local Coordinators Daniel and Katie Machon.
