Blowing Rock, N.C. (October 11, 2024) – Hurricane Helene left a trail of devastationacross the High Country, impacting countless families, small businesses, andemployees. Due to the widespread damage, Tweetsie Railroad will remain closed forthe rest of the fall season, allowing our staff and the surrounding area to prioritizerebuilding and restoring what was lost.
“This storm has touched the lives of so many in ways we never anticipated,” said ChrisRobbins, President of Tweetsie Railroad. “Many of our team members and local familiesare facing tremendous challenges, and we want to ensure they have the time andresources they need to get back on their feet. Their safety and well-being are our toppriority.”
Although Tweetsie Railroad is known for being a place for family fun and beloved falltraditions, the immediate need is to focus on recovery and resilience. We encouragethose who want to help from a distance to consider purchasing gift cards or certificatesfrom local shops, restaurants and other businesses that rely heavily on seasonaltourism. Any small gesture of kindness can help these businesses recoup some of therevenue lost during what is typically a busy time.
“Our hearts are with everyone affected by this disaster, and we remain committed tostanding alongside our neighbors throughout this difficult period,” Robbins added. “Welook forward to welcoming everyone back when we reopen for Tweetsie Christmas® onNovember 29, bringing the holiday spirit to life and sharing some much-needed cheerwith our guests and staff.”
Thank you to all of our supporters for your encouragement and patience as we navigatethis difficult time together. We are working to restore the park and look forward tobringing the magic of Tweetsie back for the holidays.
