  • Demand immediate bail payment

  • Use convincing tactics, including personal details

The Watauga County Sheriff’s Office WILL NEVER:

  • Call to request bail money

  • Accept payment by:

  • Phone

  • Gift cards

  • Wire transfers

  • Payment apps

What to Do If You Receive Such a Call

  • Do NOT send money

  • Do NOT share personal information

  • Hang up immediately

  • Contact Sheriff’s Office using verified number
